Growing Practices

Minimal tillage, permanent raised beds, resting and feeding through use of beneficial cover crops and crop rotation. We are not certified organic but see this as a base level of operation in regards to inputs and pest control. Fertility, soil and plant health comes from compost, natural fertilisers in the form of composted animal manures, seaweeds and fish emulsions, some of the biodynamic preparations and home made potions of plant residues from the garden. We never use synthetic fertilisers or pesticides and aim to reduce pest pressure by increasing biodiversity. Choosing to grow many different plants helps to create a thriving environment to attract all types of beneficial life on the farm, and provide a beautiful and nourishing place in which to work and live.
